I Look Like
What I’ve Been Through
I thank God
that I do indeed
look like
what I've been through.
My broken bones,
My scratches and scars
Show that I've survived
The many and varied wars
I have fought through.
Some of my hair is gone.
Some are white or gray.
My skin is more winkled
And this I can relay:
I am grateful for all,
All my tragedies,
All my woes.
Just ask my foes
And they will tell you
That I've been unbeatable
And I've been strong.
I've lived my life
As if it were a song,
Requiring many, many
Changes in tempo,
And changes in key.
They have all contributed
In making me: ME.
that I do indeed
look like
what I've been through.
My broken bones,
My scratches and scars
Show that I've survived
The many and varied wars
I have fought through.
Some of my hair is gone.
Some are white or gray.
My skin is more winkled
And this I can relay:
I am grateful for all,
All my tragedies,
All my woes.
Just ask my foes
And they will tell you
That I've been unbeatable
And I've been strong.
I've lived my life
As if it were a song,
Requiring many, many
Changes in tempo,
And changes in key.
They have all contributed
In making me: ME.
